Stay Safe on Video Chat: Tips, Reporting and Help
Talking to people you do not know is fun when you are in control. This is how to stay in control: what to avoid, how to leave, how to report, and where to get help.
- Skip, block, report
- Protect your details
- Contact support
YouThe three buttons to know before your first match
Every call has the same three escape routes. Skip moves you to the next person and ends the current call. Block stops you being matched with that person again. Report tells us something happened that should not have. All three are on screen during the call, so you never have to hunt for them.
Use them early. People hesitate because they do not want to be rude. A stranger who made you uncomfortable already stopped being polite. You do not owe an explanation, and you do not need to wait for a "second chance".
If you are new here, it is worth reading how it works first, so you know what the buttons look like on your device.

Seven ways to protect yourself on video chat
Most bad experiences online follow the same pattern. These seven habits break it.
- Never send money, gift cards or codes. No matter the reason: an emergency, a "verification" fee, a promise to pay you back. Anyone who asks for money in a chat is not there to chat.
- Keep it on the platform. Be wary of anyone who wants to move to another messaging app right away. Plenty of scams start with "let us go to WhatsApp".
- Do not share where you live, work or study. Not your street, not your office, not your school. A first name or nickname is enough.
- Check your background. Letters, mail, a school uniform or a street through the window can say more than you meant.
- Do not click links or download files from someone you just met. That includes "a quick game" or "a photo I want to show you".
- Trust the uncomfortable feeling. If something is off, it is off. Skip first, think later.
- Remember that calls can be recorded by the other person. Treat anything you say or show on camera as something that could be saved.
How to report someone
Reporting is for things that break the rules or make you feel unsafe.
What to report
Harassment, threats, hate speech, anyone asking for money or personal details, someone who appears to be under 18, people who show you things you did not ask to see, or anything you think is illegal.
How to report
Use the report button on the call screen. If you have already left the call, email us at support[at]camloochat.net with the time and what happened, and we will look into it. Do not include anyone else's private information in the message.
In an emergency
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Our team cannot send help to a location.
Our rules for the community
Camloo Chat is for adults. If you are under 18, please do not use it. If we believe someone is under 18, we may end their session. If you see someone who looks like a minor, report them.
Be respectful. No harassment, no hate, no threats, no sharing of other people's private information, no spam and no scams. No content involving minors, ever. Break these rules and you can lose access.
These are short on purpose. Our terms of service cover the legal detail, and the privacy policy explains what data we handle.
